ITIN Preparation
Certain residents and non-residents who are required to have an identity number for tax purposes but lack or are ineligible for a Social Security number are issued an ITIN number by the IRS. You're in luck because this is just one of our many areas of expertise.
Process:
• As soon as you are prepared to file your federal income tax return, you should complete the ITIN application form because you will need to attach the return to your application.
• If you qualify for an exception to the tax filing requirement, be sure to submit your ITIN application form and any supporting documentation that establishes your foreign status and identity.
• An ITIN application can be submitted at any time of the year. You might face penalties, though, if the tax return you attach to your ITIN application form is submitted after the return's deadline. Thus, be sure to file your current year's return by the deadline.
